Bob Kerwin has been playing saxophone since 5th grade. He enjoys all types of music and has played in big bands, small jazz ensembles, R&B and rock groups, symphonic bands, and saxophone quartets. His main focus is currently jazz, performing with his quartet, "Inside Pocket," and in a duo with guitarist Doug Brown.
For many years Bob was a physician by day and musician at night. He practiced Family Medicine, then Emergency Medicine, and finished his medical career as a UW-Madison student health doctor, retiring in October 2018.
Bob is an active promoter of the Madison jazz community. He runs the Madison Jazz Calendar, and created its precursor, Madison Jazz, a web magazine that was the hub of the jazz community for many years. In 2009 he founded Madison Jazz Jam, a 501c nonprofit that continues to run an all-ages jazz jam.
For Bob, music is a healing force. Whether it is a club date, concert, dinner music, or wedding his aim is to connect with listeners and make them feel good. Contact Dr. Bob to discuss music for your next event!
