Bob Kerwin began playing saxophone over 40 years ago. He enjoys all types of music and has played in big bands, small jazz ensembles, R&B and rock groups, symphonic bands, and saxophone quartets. Currently he performs with Big Circle (all original compositions), The Bob Kerwin jazz quartet, and in duos with keyboardist Doug White or guitarist Doug Brown. Since 2013 he has performed at Delaneys Restaurant twice a month on Fridays.
For many years Bob was a physician by day and musician at night. He practiced Family Medicine, then Emergency Medicine, and finished his medical career as a UW-Madison student health doctor, retiring in October 2018.
He has also been an active promoter of the Madison jazz community. He created Madison Jazz, a website and calendar that served as the hub of the jazz community for many years, and in 2009 he founded Madison Jazz Jam, a 501c nonprofit that continues to run a twice a month all-ages jazz jam.
For Bob, music is a healing force. Whether it is relaxing dinner music, a wedding, concert, or club date his aim is to connect with listeners and make them feel good. Contact Dr. Bob to discuss music for your next event!
