Pianist/organist Doug White performed with the funky drummer, Clyde Stubblefield, for 5 years, and at Nadia’s Restaurant on State St for over 10 years. He started subbing at Delaney’s for Doug Brown in 2015 and now we play at Delaney’s once a month, as well as for private functions. He is a dynamic performer familiar with many standards and comfortable playing bass lines with his left hand. This fills out the sound more than expected for a duo.
Doug is also a talented composer and his songs have been warmly received. Our duo performances feature about half originals by Doug or me.
Here are couple of songs from a night at Delaney’s in September, 2018. While the recording quality could be better (a recorder on the stand next to our tip jar) it captures the essence of our sound.
This is the classic bossa nova, Manha de Carnaval (aka Black Orpheus).
Here is an original by Doug, Two Hearts One.
