The Bob Kerwin Quartet is Peter Weil – bass, Kevin Adler – drums, Mark Ramirez – keys, and Bob Kerwin – saxophone. We perform once a month at Delaney’s Restaurant and periodically at other venues, social events, fundraisers, and corporate events. Our repertoire includes jazz standards, originals, bluesy hard-bop, and groove based jazz.
Here is a sampler from a March 2019 performance at Sequoia Library. It is the quickest way of hearing what we sound like.
0:27 The Hippest Cat in Hollywood
1:12 Song for Ruth
2:12 My Romance
2:57 Black Orpheus
The rest of these tunes below were taken from an spring 2018 performance at Sequoya Library. We like playing there – they have a great listening room and appreciative audiences.
“Beatrice” was written by Sam Rivers for his wife and appears on his 1964 debut release, “Fuchsia Swing Song.’ It has become a modern jazz standard, covered by many. This is our take.
Here we play a funky blues by Peter Bernstein called “Carrot Cake.” It is on his 1998 “Earth Tone” release.
This is “Playing in the Street,” a bebop type tune I finished writing in 2015. It went through multiple changes (and titles) until finally feeling complete. It has an exuberant quality that reminds me of my youth.
