Bob Kerwin has been playing saxophone since 5th grade. He enjoys all types of music and has played in big bands, small jazz ensembles, R&B and rock groups, symphonic bands, and saxophone quartets. His main focus is currently jazz, performing with his quartet, "Inside Pocket," and in a duo with guitarist Doug Brown.
For many years Bob was a physician by day and musician at night. He practiced Family Medicine, then Emergency Medicine, and finished his medical career as a UW-Madison student health doctor, retiring in October 2018.
He has also been an active promoter of the Madison jazz community. He runs the Madison Jazz Calendar, and created its precursor, Madison Jazz, a web magazine that was the hub of the jazz community for many years. In 2009 he founded Madison Jazz Jam, a 501c nonprofit that continues to run an all-ages jazz jam.
For Bob, music is a healing force. Whether it is a club date, concert, dinner music, or wedding his aim is to connect with listeners and make them feel good. Contact Dr. Bob to discuss music for your next event!
